I have torn down the wall to a crawl space and am currently considering whether to add insulation to the sloped ceiling which is now part of the room. The house was built in 1950 and the roof structure is as follows; tiles, paper, raw wood, air gap, masonite, wood shavings, paper, raw wood (existing "ceiling"). What I've been considering is either using styrofoam or mineral wool and then beadboard on the existing ceiling. Do you think it is worth the effort? Should I use plastic?

No thoughts?
