1950s house, exterior walls lack insulation!?
That's insulation in.
It might not be the warmest house, but you will probably live without it being too expensive.
Just plaster makes it a bit more difficult, but solvable if you want to insulate in the future.
So my advice is not to do anything immediately, see how it is after a year or so.

In the realtor's description, it sounds like there is insulation.
Have you reviewed any energy calculations?
If you plan to renovate everything before moving in, that's of course another matter, but I would then let experts look at it and evaluate. A small thing is easy to miss, but it could mean that a completely different type of insulation needs to be done.

Insulate from the inside if you want to preserve the facade, don't forget the floors
