I am currently renovating the bathroom and will be chiseling out trenches in the partition wall that is covered with board so that the electrician can lay his conduits recessed. I want to fill in the trenches again before I apply the waterproofing on the board.

I am therefore looking for a filler that has good adhesion to wood and works in layer thicknesses of up to 10 mm at least. The filler doesn't need to be sandable.

Ordinary wood filler would shrink and crack, and I would prefer to avoid having to apply multiple layers of filler to fill the holes.

What filler works well for this?

Looking forward to your opinions!

Best answer

Gypsum plaster/Gypsum or something cement-based like housefix, tile adhesive or similar.

Fillers is an absolutely insane product. Weighs nothing, easy to work with, doesn't sink, and dries quickly. When I bought it about a year ago, it did say Byggmax on the can, so I can't be entirely sure if this is exactly the same product.

Edit: Just tidied up the language a bit.

Can you tell me more about your board and your upcoming tätskikt? It feels a bit shaky.

It may sound a bit odd to your ears, but a filler that is easy to work with, cures quickly, is easy to sand, and does not shrink is Plastic Padding Elastic.
However, the volumes that need filling should not be too large, of course.

Not so affordable perhaps compared to a bag of dry gypsum or cement mortar that you mix with water at home?

Doesn't plaster shrink when it sets?

No, it is stable.

Gipsputs/Gypsum does not shrink, no... Colorama's wall filler doesn't shrink either...

Hi, yes gladly: It's a load-bearing wall of ~50 mm tongue and groove and on top of that a 5 mm board.

Yes, gypsum sounds great for this! Good tip!
