I plan to replace some indoor door frames and install two portals made of planed timber. And then I'll probably need to get wedges (unless I splurge on frame screws). Where can I buy the best wedges and what should I consider regarding wedges?

Or should I go with frame screws?

Buying? You go to the sawmill and cut some scrap wood (preferably heartwood). These have been good for secret building at little brother's http://www.jula.se/kilsats-100-pack-349002, but maybe a bit too weak to keep whole large frames in place.

One doesn't exclude the other, you need both frame screws and wedges. Wedges under the frame so that it is perfectly level, then some wedges to hold it in place while you insert the frame screw. But to avoid traditional frame screws and upper wedges, I would recommend the product below. Used it for installing doors and windows last summer and must say it helps a lot. Since you can press the sleeves against the frame before starting to screw, there's a reduced risk of any screw going crooked with the lot. http://katalog.essve.se/webspeed/ka...t_bid=V70&dokid=wc396392&katnr=1&katsektnr=22

I always use a frame sleeve, it's much more convenient as you don't have to deal with wedges. There is a difference between frame screws and frame sleeves but perhaps it's frame sleeves you were thinking of. If you want to use wedges, they should be made of hard wood or plastic.

Edit: Norrbottenstorpet was apparently a bit quicker on the keyboard than I was, but those are the sleeves I use...very convenient, as I said.
