1. Hello
I have bought a plot with a masonry foundation on it. The plan was to build a guest house. The construction was never completed. As the new owner of the property, we now want to replace the self-supporting metal roof that is on top and use the foundation as a storage. To avoid an unsightly roof of 35 m2, we plan to put the metal back on half of the area and build a deck on top of it. On the remaining half, we plan to use roofing felt. The idea is to have a slight slope from the middle of the entire area for water drainage. The deck should then be adjusted to be flat over the metal. I hope this is reasonably understandable.

My question is what dimension the construction timber should have and how close the beams should be placed? The metal will then be covered with pressure-treated wood and placed 60cc apart. The other part will be covered with tongue-and-groove boards and roofing felt, so the underlying beams in construction timber might need to be placed closer together.

The foundation wall is a total of 7.75 m x 5 m.

How is the roof constructed now?
That is, what is under the metal roofing?
Because the metal sheet doesn't lie freely at a 5 m length, right?
And where in the country is this gem located?

Yes, it is completely free under the sheet. We will support the middle of the part intended for the terrace. Located in Västmanland.

What kind of metal sheet can lie completely unsupported over such a large area?

Self-supporting metal sheet. But to my question about the dimension of the battens. It will be a surface of 3.75 x 5 m that needs battens. On top, we'll put the sheet back so that the water can drain off in the deep grooves. Should we have 45 mm thick or more?
