I'm going to partition a living room here at home to create an additional bedroom. I have most of it figured out, but I'm a bit unsure whether (and if so, what) I should place between the existing floor and the joist I screw into the floor.
The floor is a 28 mm spruce floor on a chipboard subfloor.
I have the following at home that is lying around. Could it be suitable – I'm thinking the purpose is the extra soundproofing one gets.

You are thinking correctly, you should always have something between the sill and the wooden floor to avoid movement noise, alternatively screw-glue the stud to the wooden floor but then you lock the floor's movements more…S Sargen said:I am going to divide a living room here at home so that we get another bedroom. Foam works excellently.
One typically doesn't place a wooden sole directly against a wooden floor without gluing in between to avoid movement noise… But foam probably works well in combination with screwing the sole, so it should be fine…S Sargen said:I'm planning to divide a living room here at home so that we get an additional bedroom.
