Installing ceiling panels
Considering how to install the ceiling panel as smoothly as possible. An obvious option is a pneumatic nail gun. Being thrifty, I wonder if there's a cheaper alternative that's just as easy.
One idea I have is to use an electric staple gun. There are ones that shoot 16 mm brads. Has anyone tested if it works?

Yes. And if you don't want to rent, I think you can get away with 2000 SEK for a cheap air compressor and nail gun (Biltema or Clas Ohlson). You can always have use for the compressor later. I was mostly wondering if there is an alternative to the nail gun besides the hammer.Sweli said:
It's stupid to be too stingy - it usually ends up more expensive...
I bought a cheap one from Bauhaus after a tip from a craftsman. It has the confidence-inspiring name "Airy" and actually works great. The problem with many nail guns is that they don't get enough love (oil) and start to jam. Therefore, I bought a mist lubricator to place between the hose and the nail gun, an investment of around 60 SEK, which has proven to be very good. The nail gun cost around 500:-, +/- 100:-, I actually don't remember.
In terms of compressors, you can manage with anything really, a nail gun doesn't use much air. I have a 150-liter one here, it starts once a day if you're working very hard...

Was it the 150-liter one that was a "cheap one"? Those are usually 5000 SEK and upwards. I myself am thinking more like 1000 SEK for a cheap one. Such one is sufficient, as mentioned, for a nail gun. It's almost enough with a bicycle pump to power the nail gun.KarlXII said:
Did you buy the gun at Bauhaus as well?
Betting on mediocre tools is penny wise and pound foolish in my opinion ;D
It's like buying bad pots for the kitchen, we women know what that means. ;D
Buying quality tools becomes cheaper in the long run and you get the job done faster.

I knooooow. And yet I never learn. You stand there, cheerfully with a cheap tool from Rusta that either breaks or does a bad job. Then you go and buy a real tool.Sweli said:

I can't help it. Great-grandma came from småland so it's in the blood.
Do a blood exchange then ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Bought a "super lamp" at Rusta. Rechargeable with a giant battery, Philips halogen lamp. 299:-.
I thought it must be great to have when working.
Came home, charged it according to instructions.
When I needed it to move the cords to the computer, it shone for 5 minutes, then went out and wouldn't turn on again :-/
But you can never say that cheaper things are "just" cr..
Went to Bauhaus and bought a "combi-ladder" 2600:-
A few weeks later, I see at Rusta that they have the same ladder (different brand) for 950:- then you're happy :-/

There will be no blood exchange. I enjoy being frugal.Sweli said:
I've actually been thinking about that flashlight you bought. Was it really 1500 W? Did you try grilling flintastek with it?
I bought a lamp at Biltema that matches your description (except for the number of Watts) that works great. The price was also around 300 kr. A must if you're building during the dark season.
That you are comfortable I do not doubt for a second, but does your environment enjoy it? ;D
Regarding the fantasktiska lamp. Yes, it said on the box and it lights up at 1500w but only for a few minutes, then it goes out :-/
I was thinking of returning the sk.... it's not worth having.

Here is the answer key (from today's shopping at Bauhaus):
Compressor 899:- (24 liter, 1.5 hp)
Nail gun Airy 399:- (thanks for the tip Kalle 12)
Hose 10m 219:-
Along with a handful of nails, it came to 1600:-. Totally okay (even for a cheapskate).

No problem!
Here are a few more:
I still recommend that mist lubricator for 60 :-.
If not... be very careful to drop in a drop from the supplied bottle after each day and/or at lunch if you're working all day.
Nail diagonally towards the spring on the wood with a pretty good angle, then the nail won't be visible at all.
