Mono-pitch roof Garage/carport
Hello!
I am planning to build a garage/carport with a shed roof, model higher 2.50m-3.80m.
6-6.5m wide, 7.5m long. One long side is formed by the house gable (the highest).
Now I wonder where I can get 6.5m plus studs, which studs I should use? Finger jointed? Glulam beams? Dimension? Minimum roof slope? Price of studs/beams?
I will have shingles on the roof.
Hope someone has useful info about this, thanks in advance.

some beams do not handle that width with 2 supports (2 walls) without you considering glulam beams, and they won't be slender either. I would guess about 300x90mm. As for the slope, I have chosen 10 degrees, which should be seen as a minimum (Skåne) and with a metal roof. If you live further north in the country, you must take snow masses into account.

I used the garage book to size my carport. Available at many libraries.
Garageboken - Bokus bookstore
I built freely according to the forest industry's drawings and needed to resize because I wanted a heavier roof than the sheet metal roof that is standard. I chose to go up in quality rather than size.

Considering building a carport that will connect to the garage. The disadvantage is that the carport's shed roof will have an opposite slope compared to the garage's shed roof slope. I'm not quite sure what to do. Should I build the carport's roof over the garage and have a large height difference on one side, or should I not connect the garage and carport, leaving a gap of a few cm? Feel free to suggest how I should build it. I will post pictures of the garage so you get a clearer picture of my problem.
wolffi: I think it's more attractive when the lean-to roof slopes away from the house and it might be more practical too. Have you considered changing the direction of the garage roof so that it slopes away from the house and then connects it with the carport? It will of course incur a cost, but purely aesthetically, I think it would look the best. But that's just what I think.....
The best thing would have been to change the slope of the garage roof. But unfortunately, that's not possible because then I would end up inside the neighbor's property line, and I would also have to dig down pipes for the stormwater, which I wouldn't be keen on. If I have the slope towards the street, I can use the house's stormwater pipe.
Sorry for the delay in response. The garage is 8.5 X 7 meters, under the roof there is an additional 3.5 X 10 meters = the roof is 110 sqm. Glulam beams = 270 X 90mmktm525 said:
