Is it possible to use any plastic pipes for a central vacuum system, or is there a specific pipe included in the expensive kits that manufacturers sell?

You can use whatever you feel like. We have built from different ones at home.

The only thing that is important is that it is sealed and that there isn't too much static electricity in the pipes. But my opinion is that, for example, sewage pipes are not cheaper than the pipes that are specifically intended for central vacuum systems.

I have used regular gray drain pipes from the hardware store for a temporary installation in the garage. They are cheap, and there are lots of different bends, they fit with the white pipes that are supplied. Whether it is completely successful, I don't know. I have some memory that the white ones are antistatic treated and that might be good, but I might as well have dreamed that, so wait for more answers....

Found some tips on different vacuum cleaner pipes here:

Common 50mm drainage pipes from the hardware store

(+) Fitted together with rubber gaskets (not glued), you can calmly twist the bends to get the best angle. Well suited for new constructions. Sturdy!

(-) Beware of sharp 90-degree bends! Use two 45-degree bends instead. Inlet valves and mounting plates must be chosen from one of the central vacuum systems. There may be issues with sealing here.

Awesome that the gray drain pipes work. I can get them at a good price. Thanks for the info!

have heard that static electricity builds up in ordinary pipes resulting in blockages
