During a facade panel replacement, we discovered that a small part (about 50cm) of what I believe is called a sill was rotten. These are the boards that lie directly on the masonry foundation. See pictures. I don't feel confident enough to replace it myself and wonder how to proceed. Who should be contacted and in what order (structural engineer, carpenter, inspector, etc.)? Should someone check the rest of the foundation as well? The exterior paneling looks good on the rest of the house, but that may not guarantee the sills are okay? What might this cost? And what do we do with the facade in the meantime where there is no panel? Cover it with plastic? Many questions about this and grateful for any answers we can get. Thanks for responses.

Update: no answers here, but we have now contacted carpenters and hope it will work to just replace a smaller part of the sill.
