When replacing the panels on the garage, I discovered that about 3-5 cm of the sill adjacent to a stud by the garage door is damaged by rot.

This part was buried in wet soil and is very moist.

The question is what do I do now? My thought is to replace my current 2 doors with a wide door in about 2-3 years. So then I could replace a larger part of the sill to remove all the rot.

But until then, I thought I would dig away all the soil and fill it with gravel that drains water better with a small slope away from the wall to keep it dry. Before I fill it up, I'll leave it open so it can dry properly and then oil it.

What do people think?

Cut/saw away the bad/rotten parts. Then, add fresh virke, which you place on thick tar paper against the ground.

Is this something I really need to do now? Or can it last another 2 years if I just ensure it's ventilated and dry from now on?

No, it's probably not going to collapse right now...
