Hi, the parquet is damaged behind the fridge and freezer, and I'm looking for tips on how to fix this nicely. The board, which is black, is damaged with mold, but it has dried out now. I would like to replace this floorboard, but the problem is that it continues past the fridge/freezer space?

  • Damaged parquet floor with mold stain behind a removed refrigerator, surrounded by tools and cables.
  • Damaged parquet floorboard with mold behind refrigerator and freezer, showing a blackened section in need of replacement beyond the appliance area.
Get a multi-tool and cut the parquet.

Okay, where do you think I should cut it? And restore with good results?

Cut along the wall to the left. If you're lucky, you can wiggle the piece loose without damaging the board next to it.

do you mean like this? On the right side, the board continues there next to the hole as well

  • A gap between wooden flooring and a wall with tools and cables scattered on the floor, possibly indicating ongoing construction or renovation work.

Cut to the wall's end at most. Actually, it's enough with the damaged board.

I don't quite understand what you mean now? The board is two-plank and it sticks out a bit

But if the damage isn't visible when the fridge and freezer are there, shouldn't we just leave it as it is?

OK, cut off the entire stretch at the level of the further damage.

Has it been checked if there is water damage under the board?
It looks like it might have been going on for a while and then water may have run down into the joist layer.

Multitool solves it with good handling.

do you mean cutting the floor right in front of the damage and then gluing the new floorboard against the cut one? Since there won't be a groove?

But if I understand you correctly, it is under the fridge? cut away the black or leave it, make sure the fridge's condensate ends up in the evaporation bowl, place the fridge back with a plastic sheet underneath so new water runs out visibly. if it is under the fridge, you do not need to restore the floor.
