The M8 thread is exactly 8 mm, the M6 head should be 10 mm, leaving a 1mm edge, which is a bit because the hole for M8 should be 8.5 mm or so.
But maybe it means M6M and then it's a "standard" hexagonal head regardless of dimension. But that wasn't the case.

It sounds like you've stripped an M6 thread and need to upgrade a step without changing the countersink. If that's the case, the best option is to use an HSS countersink at 16.5mm for M8. Something like this

Then it might be time for an intervention thread.
Or a POPnut.

Or screw in an insert thread and use an M6 screw. For example:

Know that Bossard has a countersunk slot screw with a small head but I believe they only go up to M6.
Also, these are not easy to get hold of....
Take an M8 countersunk slot screw and grind down the head and make a new slot.

You need to bring out the lathe for that, but the question is why you are looking for this? If it's broken threads, as others have guessed, it's better to drill it out and insert a threaded insert. Custom screws are just a path to ruin, they'll always come back to bite you in the ass in the future.
Is there something called M6skalle?
Yes, what kind of "head" is being referred to? Screws come with a whole variety of "heads." When it comes to M6 and M8 screws. Please show with a picture what you have that you want to replace with a larger thread dimension.
Exactly the kind of screw I'm searching for high and low! Found this thread. Where can I buy such - does anyone know?P-plats said:
