Hello everyone. I bought a house a while ago.. I've been inspecting the property more thoroughly these days and noted that I probably have a small settlement on the 2nd floor.

Under the kitchen part of the house in the basement ceiling, there is a beam with the dimensions 195x90. 5.30m long, with a pillar in the middle. The beam rests on Leca blocks at both ends. But the standing pillar is sagging (about 10mm over 2 meters where it is worst).

I was thinking of replacing this with an I/H beam and at the same time lifting the floor slightly as I have tiles in the kitchen.

I hope I'm writing in a way that someone understands.

Is there anything I should consider here? Kind regards

Now the problem is solved! Bought a glulam post in a suitable size and used 2 props to lift the beam, then placed a horizontal reinforcement on top of the post to avoid the high point load that the old post had. Used sill paper to fine-tune the height.
