Hello! There is some cracking around the front door. So a piece of plaster came off. What's the best way to fix it? Putty? If so, with what? 🤔🙂 How would you do it?

  • Cracked wall around front door with broken gypsum board visible, asking for repair advice.
How big is the gap? It looks quite large, then I would have removed the old one and first put in a bottninglist and then a flexible, paintable soft sealant. The bottninglist is round and this makes the sealant thin in the middle, which prevents it from cracking.

Thanks,! The gap is about 1cm wide

So the idea is to push the backer rod into the gap, then seal over it and then paint?

That's how I would have done it. Bottningslist is available in many sizes. Buy one that is slightly larger than the gap.
