Help!

Our house in Sälen suffered water damage in the basement. External drainage has now been addressed. Does anyone have tips on how to furnish the basement?

There are a few cracks in the wall.

Do they need to be repaired, and how do you do it?

Running a finger along some of the joints reveals they have superficially weathered but are solid further in.

Anyone know how to handle this?

After researching this, I have concluded the following.

Walls:

Steel studs (should there be an air gap against the wall?)

No insulation against the blocks.

Panels for basements.

Floor:

Platon membrane

Ventilated skirting boards

Click flooring or vinyl flooring.

Am I thinking right?

Have I missed anything?

Regards,

Håkan

  • Basement under renovation with exposed concrete walls, wooden supports, and a wooden plank on the floor. Signs of moisture damage visible.
  • Concrete basement wall with visible wooden studs and electrical wiring; signs of previous water damage and potential wall cracks.

Have you considered accepting that basements mean moisture can come through floors and walls, and then plastering the walls and painting with moisture-permeable silicate paint, respectively having tiles or moisture-resistant carpeting on the floor?

Thank you!
These could be solutions to consider.
