Hello!
I am going to install a stove shortly in the recreation room and am wondering if the hole that needs to be made through the basement wall needs to be reinforced in any way? The new flue pipe will be connected to the old flue pipe from the oil boiler that was in the adjacent boiler room. It is a masonry wall with lightweight concrete blocks that is 220mm thick including the rendering. The hole will be about 250mm in diameter and will be located about 750mm from the floor. The stove pipe is 120mm.
I had an idea to get a stainless steel pipe with a diameter of 250mm and put it in the hole and plaster against it. But maybe it’s not necessary?
