Hi, we are in the process of replacing bad roofing boards on a roof due to moisture problems. The roofing felt is being removed, but a large part of the roof is good. Are there any solutions for how to make the new layer of roofing felt, which is thinner than the several older layers of roofing felt, align at the same height? Can you apply some form of material or underlay on top of the roofing boards and under the roofing felt? Can you even lay some sheet material like plywood or OSB?

What is the size of the area that needs to be replaced? How old is the roofing felt that you plan to keep? Maybe it's worth replacing everything at once?

Rickard.
You can do pretty much whatever you want to even out. Using asphalt will be expensive and messy, pappläggare often use leftover spillpapp if it's not too much, but anything you think will work will do. It won't be completely perfect, but that's not necessary for functionality.

Good questions. On one side of the roof ridge, all the roofing felt was removed as 50% of the area needed new material.

On the other side, it seems that so far it's about 1 m² out of 10-12 m². Perhaps the best option is just to lay several new layers of roofing felt to reach the same height?

I guess the roofing felt is about 20 years old.

If it's only 10-12 square meters and you still need to replace 1 square, it's best to replace all the paper at once. A water leak in the next few years will feel very unnecessary.
