Hello!
I had a craftsman who leveled a concrete slab with screed in preparation for upcoming flooring installation.
After two days, it's still quite damp and soft while some parts are flaking on the surface.
It looks strange, and I wonder if anyone knows if it's usual for it to flake like this.

  • Cracking and peeling surface on a wet concrete slab shows flaking cement, two days after screeding, with visible unsealed edges near the wall.
  • A concrete floor with flaking areas and footprints, suggesting moisture and uneven surface. Construction tools and materials are visible in the background.

What are your plans for the flooring to be installed (tile, parquet, carpet, etc.)?

It is a laminate floor

Too much water in the material, did they apply the filler thinly or thickly

Around 2cm

Just take a putty knife and scrape it off, then you can apply some fine putty, are you laying the floor yourself? Do a check with a 2m level and make sure there are no peaks and valleys.

So, it's not uncommon for it to peel?

Okay. It's either too much water in the last buckets or they did cleaning before.

Yes

it has been two days and it is still sticky on the surface. Does it usually take that long?
Should I put in a dehumidifier?

You mean it shouldn't peel like this?

No, it should be a hard surface.

Don't do anything yourself because whatever you do - right or wrong - the person who did this will blame it on you later.

Contact the person who did it and let them solve it.

Absolutely no dehumidifier, contact the company that made them and ask them to come and fix it,

Is it okay to have a space heater?
