During the year, we plan to furnish our attic and for aesthetic reasons, we want to use pine plywood as cladding (walls and ceiling).

A friend speculated whether I might need to put a layer of gypsum behind the plywood panels for fire safety reasons, but does anyone here know what the regulations are?

The plan was otherwise to attach 14 mm panels directly to the studs with construction adhesive and brads as fasteners.

Thanks in advance!

  • A kitchen interior using pine plywood for walls, ceiling, and cabinetry, featuring open shelves and modern lighting.
It depends on the type of housing involved

Ok. It is a detached house, built with stick-built construction. Or are there other type designations you are thinking of?

If you have more than 8m to the nearest house, no fire protection is required.

Hi, reviving the question 😅 do the same rules apply if it's a bedroom? Thanks in advance for the answer!

Yes, you have no requirements in a villa, if you have more than 8m to the nearest building.

Thank you, so if I understand correctly, if I currently have drywall on the walls and put plywood boards over it, I don't need to do anything more in terms of fire protection. Regardless of the 8-meter rule? We live in a terraced house and the wall closest to the neighbor would be made up of a closet (behind the closet is drywall).
