I wonder if it matters which color you choose for roof drainage. I have heard that white downpipes soon become ugly due to algae etc. Is that true? What about silver-colored ones? Should you choose black to avoid seeing the "elendet"?

Mine are white and the only thing that made them ugly is physical direct contact with a trailer.

How long have you had them?

We have only had them for a year (painted the house this summer) but they were white when we bought the house too and that was four years since they were last painted.

Of course it matters! They are as visible as any knots.
I would only choose black if one of the colors of the house is black.
Isn't it appropriate to choose a color that blends in with the house's color scheme?
On our light green/white house, black would look really odd.
