Hello!

We have a room with two stalled projects that I wonder if anyone has experience with.

In the basement level, there is a bedroom at one end and a living room with a fireplace. Tile flooring with underfloor heating runs from the hallway through an arch into both the living room and bedroom.

We are planning to partition the living room to create another bedroom at the same end as the fireplace, so that the remaining living room is in the middle at the archway.

We want to completely remove the fireplace. What is the best way to do this? And how do you cover/seal the chimney channel? There is also a channel where the fireplace draws air from the neighbor's basement level (semi-detached house), which I think needs to be closed.

We have envisioned the wall to be of some type that you can tension up, but how does that work when you want to have a door in it?

Grateful for experiences and tips!

Archway to hall and white corner fireplace with tiled floor, planned for renovation to create additional bedroom; fireplace slated for removal.
