Hello,

Asking for a friend who recently expanded their entrance via a contractor, and now there's a crack in one of the glulam beams.
White painted timber beam with visible crack next to a red wooden house wall and window. Crack visible in a white laminated beam, possibly due to drying or excess weight, raising concerns about structural integrity over time.

They have read that it may be due to a drying crack or too much weight.
And they're wondering what risk this might entail in the long run?

They simply want to be more informed before talking to the contractor.

Grateful for any insights.

What does the pillar carry?

What is the pillar supporting?
A child in a yellow dress stands in the doorway of a red wooden house with a black metal roof and white trim, surrounded by a grassy yard.
