We have just completed the new garage renovation/construction.
The garage is a total of 73m2 with an extended part of 23 (formerly a carport)
170 insulation in the walls 195 in the roof structure, all plastic-wrapped.
Noticed yesterday when I was up in the attic that there was ice on the roof decking and on some parts of the roof trusses closer to the floor. On Christmas Eve, I drove a fairly icy large American car into the newly built garage which dried off. The temperature in the garage is about 17 degrees.
For over a week, the attic hatch has been open since we have been laying flooring up in the attic. My assumption is that warm air has risen from the garage and caused water to condense on the underside of the roof decking, but the strange thing is that it looks as if humid/warm air has risen through the ceiling structure and condensed along the roof trusses.
Any tips on what this might be due to and what can be done?
It should be mentioned that some of the beams for the new floor in the attic were somewhat damp when they were installed (definitely not wet). This issue was first noticed after the car was parked in the garage.
It should also be mentioned that the only ventilation in the garage is through vents in the garage doors, and the heating is air/air pump.
