I was thinking about exploring the possibilities of building a round house as cheaply as possible. The idea is that it should be livable.

About 5 meters high in two floors. About 5 meters in diameter. It will stand directly on rock.

I was considering the use of prefab concrete pipe segments but I can't find any that sell segments that large, even though I've seen such "irl".
 
Could be because it's not entirely smooth to move things that are 5 meters wide on our public roads?

Even standing on edge, it becomes a problem... but if you pass nothing lower than 6-7 meters, it should work. :-)
 
But it sounds exciting... But 5 meters wide and five meters high doesn't make a lighthouse... it becomes more like a cistern.

Four meters in diameter and eight meters high over three floors is better.

Where is it supposed to stand?

True.. cistern warning and shipping issues. However, I'm not allowed to build higher than 5 meters according to the master/detailed plan and I want to maximize the living space at the same time. On the other hand, I've found pipes that are 3.5m in diameter...

But maybe there's a smart way to build around and cheaply?

Such concrete structures are usually cast with climbing formwork. Maybe it can be rented.
 
Shouldn't it be possible to build with bricks?
 
Tough with round. I don't think ready-made elements will be cheap. The easiest is probably lecablock. Plastering these should easily make it completely round.
It can be really nice painted white.
Difficult to furnish and difficult with the windows.

Can't you take 2-3 3.5m pipes and put them next to each other? The one in the middle could be a stairwell and the others rooms?
But won't there be big problems with the building permit? Aren't there many requirements that the house must be handicap accessible?
 
Can't it be divided into 2 sections? Each pipe piece, that is.
 
You can cast round shapes with Dorocell blocks, if you specify the radius, they will make curved blocks for you. My father-in-law cast his drop-shaped pool with such blocks.
 
Sorry if I sound like a pessimist now, but I don't believe in the idea for several reasons. For one, the area won't be very large (5m diameter gives an area of just under 20 sqm per floor, totaling less than 40 sqm - it's about the size of a 2-room apartment, but it becomes significantly harder to furnish due to the round shape, i.e., less space-efficient.

The building also needs to be accessible, so on the ground floor, you have to fit in a kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping space. The outer wall also needs to be insulated to meet energy requirements, so there's a lot of work to attach insulation material to the curved concrete and cover it with some facade material.

Yes, round is cool, but if you want to build cheaply and at the same time get maximum space efficiency, it's not what you're looking for.
 
I think it's easiest to get a better-used construction cabin and freshen it up.

What are your thoughts on electricity and grid connection, water and sewage, etc.?

Two tubes with different diameters stacked inside each other and filled with frogolit beads, but as you mentioned, some issues arise. I'm wondering how convenient it will be to run plumbing and electricity if you don't want everything surface-mounted?

But it will certainly be different.
