Hello!
I'm working on an apartment renovation where I'm faced with the decision to insert a kind of insert, where you can then connect a mechanical fan that can blow out the warm air and thereby heat the whole apartment very quickly and very efficiently. HOWEVER, it is catastrophically ugly compared to a normal brick open fireplace. And you are limited to the manufacturer when it comes to size, glass, material, cost, etc.
So here's my question, and all solutions regardless of cost are interesting, CAN you build a brick fireplace, where I can choose the design myself, AND which can also have a mechanical fan that blows out the warm air?
The function in an insert is that the "cavity" under and behind the fire has air, this is heated by the heat that radiates through the "wall" and then heats the air in the cavity. Then a fan blows out this heated air through a grill on the side.
Of course, you can never get as efficient a solution if you do everything yourself, since the insert is built for this purpose, but even if you could only get out half of the heat, it would be super interesting since the design is very important to me.
So what do you think? Can you build some kind of "cavity" behind in a similar way? Or is there any other smart solution anyone has heard of where you can connect an outlet to a normal brick fireplace? You must somehow heat up "clean" air that can then be blown out.
Essentially, it's about, HOW can I construct a brick fireplace so I can connect a mechanical fan that blows out warm air on the side?
If you are also a bricklayer or know someone, you get the job immediately. I'm in Stockholm, can pay for travel and accommodation if someone is willing to make the trip.
PS. Attached a quick drawing of how I would like the brick open fireplace to look.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards
Emile
