And that's when I realized that decking screws for hidden installation might be an idea. The question then is if it works with tongue and groove paneling.
The usual method is insect netting plus sparse paneling to allow the eaves box some ventilation. Decking screws are not always the best option, especially when you want the screw to pull the board in. Decking screws bore themselves in. They are also difficult to remove if needed. Why should it be hidden? It can't be seen at that height anyway. A regular wood screw of the TFT type in a suitable corrosion class considering the location.
Found Grabbers panel screws at Hornbach, specifically for the purpose. Worked to set it hidden as well. Absolutely perfect.
