Unfortunately, I have to issue a warning about the screws that Byggmax recommends and sells for Cembrit Multiforce boards. The screws do not work on steel studs, despite being recommended by Byggmax for this purpose.

The thread is simply too short, and the entire thread goes through the steel stud before the board is fastened against the stud. Terribly poor and clumsy of Byggmax to sell such "junk." And this despite the fact that Cembrit themselves offer specially adapted screws in the same price range as Byggmax's incorrect low-quality screws. (At least the price of Cembrit screws at Beijerbygg is in the same price range...)

They also claim it is self-drilling, which it is not.

Byggmax is, as usual, not worth the trouble.

A screw inserted into a steel stud but not fastening properly, showing the issue with the thread length as described in the forum post complaint.

Could it be that Byggmax recommends the screws for regular gypsum (13 mm) while these boards are thinner? No idea, just wondering.

Maybe. But the head in the picture seems to be at too steep an angle compared to how the heads on regular drywall screws look? I.e. this screw should not hold a drywall sheet as well.

Deska screw sold together with cembrit boards on the website. Shortest version. 1 layer.

I don't think the thread on that screw looks like it's for steel track

probably some sort of combo screw for wood and steel.
and against the board and instructions in the sheet metal, it's a 42mm screw

Reminds me a bit of the Essve screw I had for the boards in the basement on metal studs. (y)

But aren't Byggmax screws "branded screws"? Well, maybe the best screws, but I think they are sold in more places. That was probably what I meant when I wrote branded screws. Because if that's the case, it's not entirely Byggmax's fault.

Looks like the particleboard screws I bought for floorboards..
Screws for sheet metal often have a tighter thread pitch than what you show in the picture, right?

That is the description for the 42mm screw.
For the 28mm screw that TS says he used, it says,
"1 layer on steel frame Yellow Chrome PH"
so it should work.

My mistake, I just clicked on the link and didn't switch to the 28 mm screw.
