Tomorrow Saturday I will tear down these two framed walls in our basement. If anyone has tips, I'm happy to listen! It can be anything - good tools to use, approach, things NOT to do, how to best handle the element, etc.

  • Basement with striped walls featuring an ironing board, iron, and exposed pipes. A small window and storage baskets are visible in the dimly lit room.
  • Mesh storage drawers filled with clothes in a basement with striped wallpaper. A clothes rack and a black cabinet are visible on the left.
The husband thought a reciprocating saw was good when we tore down the sauna panel (framed against the wall) in the basement. Just saw off the pieces somewhere between the studs and then pry them off. I was macho myself and used only a hammer and crowbar, until I got to those I couldn't get off and left them to the husband

Just make sure there are no electrical wires behind there if you're sawing with a machine. If there's insulation like fiberglass behind, you might also want to be a bit cautious with the reciprocating saw. I'm not sure, but it feels like it could get stuck, or alternatively stir up a lot of fiberglass dust, which is annoying to get everywhere.

Demolition is fun! Good luck :)

If it's insulated behind with mineral wool or similar, you might also want to be a bit careful with the reciprocating saw. Great tips. Thanks!
