Saw a new variant on Bygglov yesterday that raised some questions.

Instead of 12 mm OSB/chipboard behind the drywall, it looked like they used about 6-7 mm plywood.

The cost seems to be about the same as for regular chipboards, but the question is what advantages/disadvantages there are with this, apart from the fact that the boards are obviously easier to handle?

Anyone with some personal experience?

Presumably, it is better to screw into plywood than chipboard.

If you are careless, you can "strip" the screw in a chipboard, which is not as easy in plywood.

Yes, of course plywood or OSB is better, but they usually use 12 mm, not 6.

If you consider sound comfort, OSB must be better than 6-7 mm plywood;)

There is unclassified 12 mm construction plywood that is often somewhat cheaper than OSB (at least at Bauhaus and K-Rauta when I've looked). It tends to have some surface blemishes, but that doesn't matter when it's going behind drywall.
