Tear down load-bearing wall, laminated beam dimension
Hello, I have just bought a 70s single-story house with a basement and am planning to move the kitchen to create an open floor plan with the kitchen and living room. The roof has a 15-degree slope with concrete tiles and snow zone 2.0-2.5.
Now to my question, I want to demolish the load-bearing interior wall that the red arrow points to and would need help with determining the dimension I should use for a laminated beam.
I would preferably like to open up the entire wall with a span of 4538, I am considering 115x270 or 140x270, is that too weak?

Beijer byggmaterial has on its website a program for dimensioning glulam beams. Google it. There you fill in several measurement variables such as house width and roof pitch, etc. Then you get a suggestion for a beam. That's what I did and increased a dimension because there was too much deflection. You can print it out and then inquire from the supplier you wish to purchase from.
