I am renovating my root cellar into a wine cellar The walls are massive granite blocks with a vaulted ceiling made of brick. As you can see in the pictures, a wall has been built up (where there also used to be a door) in the middle, or almost in the middle. My question is whether you think I can demolish this wall without affecting the load-bearing capacity of the ceiling? I can't see that the built wall is reinforced in any way. It should be added that there used to be an old earth roof (about 40 cm thick) over the entire building, which I have removed. The house is from the early 1900s, but unfortunately, I don't know if the root cellar is a later construction.
