Time to sketch the carport since I'm going to fix the ground soon. The height is max 2.5 m, which means I want as flat a construction as possible. As you can see, there is a very large roof overhang and I live in quite a windy area. I want the turning radius, that's why it looks like it does.
Is it even possible to build like this with reasonable means, has anyone built something similar?
I seem to recall reading another thread here before about similar carports. They are apparently not uncommon in the USA, maybe worth ordering something from there?
Of course, this needs to be calculated, but one would like to have some rough ideas to bounce around. I'm looking at light beams in galvanized steel, such as those used in mezzanine floors. Preferably a variant that is screwed (I don’t weld). Seems to be excellent for the purpose, like a large Meccano set. For example http://www.weland.se/sv-se/entresol/
The other thing I'm looking at is self-supporting (high-profile) sheet metal like in a machine hall.
But I'm surprised that these methods seem so rare in the private market. How can that be?
