Hello

I am going to make a very large modification to the house. I am going to remove a large part of a load-bearing wall and install a beam that is really stable (as little deflection as possible).

I have checked and read a lot, but I'm not getting any wiser. I have also had a carpenter come over, and he wants to use an HEA beam 200.

So my question is, is an HEA beam 200 sufficient? Feels a bit on the small side.

Info about the house.

A sectional drawing of the house is needed for the knowledgeable people on the forum to be able to help you.

As mentioned, a section drawing is needed. Presumably, HEA 200 is too slender. An HEA 220 corresponds to, for example, 115x450 mm glulam. I think it's a somewhat risky setup from a stability standpoint. The beam is quite long and the intended layout is not ideal.

Thank you for the responses I have received. I am working on getting a sectional drawing.

Received this drawing from the municipality. They found no other drawings of the house and the previous owners threw away the entire living folder when they were cleaning up before selling.
