Smaller ridge beam with three props
If the truss in the middle is correctly dimensioned so it can take the load from the middle of the roof and transfer it out/down to the wall posts, it is possible to calculate the ridge beam as two separate ones. That is, one to the right and one to the left (according to the image). (Assume that the beam calculation template from Svenskt trä is not made for middle support/three load points?)
Thanks, the tool does not have the ability to calculate three load points. I haven't found it.Oldboy said:

Yes, exactly if the central support is well placed and adequately load-bearing, the span can be divided, and each half can be calculated separately. This can provide a significant dimensioning advantage as the moment in the middle decreases considerably. However, it's important to be sure of how the load is truly distributed, especially if the roof has different slopes and snow zone 2.5 is relevant.
The Swedish Wood template generally assumes a simple support form, so central support must be managed outside of that or a more tailored calculation should be employed.
