I have a large greenhouse on the property, or well, it's supposed to be, but it wasn't finished when I bought the house last year.
How do I seal the roof? It looks like this up at the ridge and on the sides by the overhang (see attached images).
I understand that I need sealing strips, but the gaps are so large, so I probably need to build something to make it easier to seal later on?
Okay, can I put sheet metal on a plastic roof then?
Do I need to use some kind of sealing strip too?
Thanks for the tips, it's going to be a lot of sawing to fit many small pieces between the roof beams then!
It must be tight everywhere because the idea is for it to become a chicken coop instead of a greenhouse. I want it to be dry and warm for the winter. Some of the windows can be opened so there will be a bit of ventilation that way.

Ah, that's a different matter. I thought it would have the same function. There are ridges for plastic roofs as well, but different plastic roofs have different profiles, so it might be hard to find something that fits yours. Example GOP plastic roof, but only for Esslon and not the cheaper Skylon: https://www.k-rauta.se/produkt/nock-gop-esslon-opalvit-1135mm/7392814208011
A more exotic idea is to cut the flat roof precisely at the edge of the top joist, attach for example a 45x120 on the side of the joist so that about 75mm sticks up above the plastic roof and then lay ridge plate (or make your own with boards) on that protruding piece. If you don't want to cut (or the ridge plate doesn't reach) you can add another joist to align with the plastic edge as it is now.
Regarding the gables, I mean you only need to notch out for the joists, not cut into small pieces but use full lengths.

A more exotic idea is to cut the flat roof right at the edge with the top beam, attach a 45x120 on the side of the beam so that about 75mm sticks up above the plastic roof, and then lay ridge sheet (or make your own with boards) on the protruding piece. If you don't want to cut (or if the ridge sheet doesn’t reach) you can insert another beam to level with the current plastic edge.
Regarding the gables, I mean you only need to notch out for the beams, not cut small pieces but go whole length.
Oh, that sounded advanced with your exotic idea, for a single girl who hasn't done carpentry before, at least not at a height.
I’ll look for nock for the plastic roof then, I should have thought of that myself!
Now I understand what you mean with the board on the gables, that sounds better. Just need to measure carefully.
Thanks a lot for the tips!
