Hello
When the roof was being replaced, it was discovered that the rafters needed to be replaced on the insulated part of the upper floor. The roof had been partially leaky, and moisture had been against the rafters, in the sawdust that functioned as insulation.
I wasn't on site, but saw pictures the builders sent to me. When I was there yesterday, I saw that they used material we had bought for something else. Completely okay, of course, but is it really enough?
The original rafters were timber, about 5". This has been replaced with standard studs 45*120, nailed together in pairs.
It looks a bit weak… I don’t know anything about snow load areas, but certainly there’s some snowfall up in Hälsingland.
Is it okay to do this, or have they just tried to speed up the work to get to the next job?
Grateful for a response.

The thickness of the new boards is probably not a problem, but I think the joint with the old timber looks a bit weak. Ideally, I would have wanted a whole 45x120 on each side of the joint to hold it all together, but that's just based on gut feeling.

One cannot listen too much to the stomach
I will try to get hold of an inspector/building engineer who can come and take a look. Better that cost than getting a roof on the head in winter
