Hello!
To create headroom for a caravan/motorhome, I would like to remove the loft/upper floor and the posts that support it. Does anyone know if it's OK to just remove the longitudinal and transverse beams that the loft floor rests on? On top of the loft, there are roof trusses with transverse beams.

  • Wooden beams supporting a loft floor, with bicycles and stored items below. Doorway and firewood stacked against a concrete wall in the background.
  • Wooden garage interior with bicycles and wooden beams supporting a loft. Colorful flags and storage items are visible.
  • Attic space with wooden beams and posts supporting a loft. Items like frames and boards are stored underneath. Roof rafters with crossbeams visible above.
  • Rustic attic with wooden beams and rafters. Sunlight streams through a window, illuminating scattered furniture and storage boxes.
Hello and welcome to Byggahus!
I see a ridge roof in your pictures, you should probably keep some of the transverse logs so that the long sides don't "calve".

Thank you! Can the transverse beams that are currently under the roof be moved up to the loft to counteract splaying? Or can wires be used instead of beams?
