We are planning to convert the built-in garage into living space and need to eliminate the slope on the garage floor. There is no drain, and everything slopes towards the old door. The area is 18m2 and the height difference is about 5cm. On the old cast floor, a layer about 3cm thick of some kind of "ugly concrete" has been applied, which crumbles very easily. It seems to come off easily. Since the floor is a few cm higher than the adjoining floors, I had thought to chisel away the ugly concrete on the higher half of the garage floor and then use self-leveling compound minimally to cover everything. I estimate a requirement of about 430kg of self-leveling compound. Is it reasonable to do it this way? Can you level with something lighter before using self-leveling compound (EPS cement?)? Click flooring will be laid on top of it all.
