Hi!
I have a 13mm plaster ceiling, and my question is whether it can support a 5kg crystal chandelier using toggle plaster anchors.

Can the plaster handle it, or will it give way?

It should usually be stated in the product description for such products how much they can handle in single gypsum/double, etc. I believe that most types of drywall anchors can handle at least 15 kg. But check the description for the specific type of drywall anchor you are considering.

Then there is always a risk. The declared capacity probably applies if the anchor is set in a drywall panel far from the edge, and the panel is correctly screwed into the ceiling joists. If you're unlucky, the panel might have been poorly screwed in, and you could end up near an edge. Then I suspect there's a risk of cracks at the seam to the next panel. But that's a bit far-fetched.

It's important to remember that the drywall panels themselves weigh up to 25 kg, so 5 kg extra is not dramatically much more.
