Hello,

I'm in the process of replacing the ceiling and installing new electrical cables when I discovered a large black pipe made of cast iron? The pipe goes through all the beams. Feels a bit weird? Does anyone know what it is?

It has probably been there since the house was built in 1976.

  • Black cast iron pipe through wooden beams, surrounded by insulation and white cables, as seen in a house renovation project from 1976.
Ventilation of the drain, I guess. Can't you see where it starts and ends?

Starts on one short side and ends on the other. There doesn't seem to be any drainage pipe connected to it. Ventilation for drainage was also my guess.

But then it's probably an old vent that has been decommissioned and they haven't bothered to remove completely.
