No problem with nail guns. Now, I happen to have a model that takes a real 4" (100mm) but they are uncommon on construction sites. To compensate for the missing 10 mm, nails often have extra ribs or glue that melts due to friction. Additionally, the nail is driven deeper into the wood from the start!
Another aspect is that it's considerably more fun with a nail gun, so you often over-nail, so any issue with strength doesn't exist in practice
