Hello.
I have a hat rack (standard model) that I want to attach to the wall in the hallway with four screws.

The problem is that the wall consists of three (four) layers of drywall, about 48 mm thick, then air.

In other words, Mollys are not entirely easy to use.

Has anyone encountered this and how do you solve it?

Best regards,
Petter

Are you sure it is plaster? It's not a plastered wooden wall or something similar? When was the house built?

Yes, quite sure.
Drilled holes and checked.
The house was built this year.

There is Molly for triple gypsum, that should work or what do you mean?

Well, I've searched. But can't find any molly with a grip range of 48 mm.... :(

48mm? :x

Then it's not plasterboard, is it? Plasterboards are 13mm, right? -> 39mm

It may be that there is an extreme fire rating on the wall, which is why three layers of 15 gypsum have been used. For example, if it is an apartment-separating wall in gypsum, which is otherwise quite unusual in new construction. However, if this is a single-family house, it is very strange.

Should be enough with a proper plugg.

Then it's probably not gypsum? Gypsum boards are probably 13mm? -> 39mm
ok, my mistake. Maybe not three boards, but 46-48 mm gypsum anyway. a bit hard to measure to the millimeter.

Ah, it is actually the wall towards the neighbor, it's about townhouses. Then it sounds quite likely that it's as you say regarding fire rating...

Yes, that's probably it. Depending on how much weight you're putting on the shelf, it should work with a slightly heavier duty plug.
