The boy sat on the sword from the summer vacation and it broke.
Do you have any good tips on how to fix it?
It would be desirable if the end result was a bit more stable than the original design.
I've considered splicing with a new piece of wood and drilling into both parts, but there won't be much material left in the potential hole in the sword.
How did this project go?
Drilling the hole into the sword in the right place, large enough, without cracking it, and aligning it with the handle can be a bit tricky.
But with good glue, it probably doesn't matter if there is thin material on the sword side.
Polyurethane glue will probably work.
Otherwise, there are screws with threads on both ends, käppskruv, pluggskruv, dubbelskruv. They come in various sizes and lengths, for example, for splicing round stair railings.
Other things have gotten in the way so the sword is still in 3 pieces.
That thing with the railing screws sounded interesting. I made some attempts earlier to search for something similar but didn't find the right search terms. I'll try a bit with your search terms.
I would glue the guard to the blade, likely with epoxy. Once that's done, drill for a piece of fiberglass rod and glue with epoxy. A piece of threaded rod, etc., glued in place would probably work as well, but it will be heavier.
