Hello! Attic wall removed, now we need to level the plastered brick inside so that it aligns evenly with the white wall on the left in the picture. What type of plaster(?) should I use to make it look nice (and preferably easy to work with)? Preferably something that adheres well to both brick, the plaster above the brick, and the wall on the left (preferably on gypsum as well, of course).
Thanks a lot in advance for the help!

  • Exposed brick and plaster wall beside a white wall and an adjacent drywall in an attic space.
  • Close-up of a rough brick wall with plaster remnants on the surface, adjacent to a smooth white painted wall, showcasing renovation work.
Interesting thread! Waiting eagerly for the first real answer.

Gypsum mortar is probably the easiest for you, but I would have plastered with plaster mortar C...

Thanks for the response :)

Ok, do you mean that you used gypsum plaster FIRST and then plaster mix or ONLY plaster mix? And why in that case?

Plaster mortar is easier to work with, adheres more easily but is worse from a moisture and durability perspective..
Render mortar C is more durable but is probably harder for you as a novice to work with..
But both will do in your case..

Ok, both work on their own then?

What is bad in terms of moisture with the plaster?

And the last question: does the plaster adhere to both the render, the brick, and if needed on the plasterboard?

Big, big thanks for your answers!!! :D

I also wonder about moisture when it comes to gipsbruk?

Here you can read about Gypsum which is Weber's gypsum plaster..
https://www.se.weber/files/se/2023-12/SYS-SE-weber_gypsum_naturgips.pdf
You can first plaster with plaster mortar C 3mm and then fill with gypsum plaster if you want..
But not the other way around..
Yes, gypsum plaster adheres to most things..

I too am very curious about the answer to this question! What is bad from a moisture perspective with gypsum plaster?

Is there any advantage to plastering with plaster mortar first and then gypsum instead of just using gypsum?
