We're moving from an apartment to a house, we're drawn to projects and always have been. When we renovated and remodeled the apartment, I could estimate the costs for the total to within +- 100,000 SEK.

But with the houses we're interested in now, it's significantly harder. How do you estimate roughly what costs will come to be able to participate in the bidding? Are there guidelines for roofs, drainage, new electrical wiring, roofs?

Can you find out if you will encounter asbestos, radon, or other hazardous materials during a renovation?

What should you consider when a house from 1926 is plastered on a wooden frame? What can you generally say about a villa from 1926, typical building materials/construction methods that are not good, for example?

Interesting question. My personal experience is that asbestos and radon are lesser problems compared to moisture or that the construction has been statically weakened through various interventions. See husdrömmar season 5 episode 8, which is a textbook example of this. This episode also shows how worthless hidden-defect insurances are.
