Does anyone know which part is missing or if it's supposed to be like it is in the picture?

When washing with dish soap, all the foam comes out from the pipe I have in the picture. The previous owner had a move-out cleaning done, could it be that when they cleaned the water trap, they forgot that part?

Sincerely

  • Foam leaking from a pipe under a sink, surrounded by plumbing and a towel; possible missing part or cleaning mishap noted in text.
Maybe a dishwasher drain was connected there. There are plugs available to install if it won't be used.

So nothing will happen if I put a plug there? I'm wondering if it will get pressurized.

The kitchen is brand new, there's also a dishwasher but no problems when it's running.

Is this a new installation or have you taken over this installation as the new owner of a property?

Normally there is a cover at the current location...

Everything was newly installed in 2021, but I suspect that when the previous owner ordered a moving cleaning service, the movers probably forgot to put the cover back when they cleaned the water trap.

Do you know where I can get such a cover? Should I apply silicone to it or something similar when I install it?

Move-out cleaning has no reason to loosen this cap during cleaning.
It's a bit far-fetched.

Is it a kitchen drain or a laundry room?

Google "sealing plug dishwasher connection." You need to measure your connection so you get the right size for the plug. No soft sealant needed.

There are no sealing plugs for that size, I'm thinking about sealing it with plastic and simply fastening it with a clamp.

Yes. That works too. There's no pressure. Or any cork, cap, lid, stopper. Yes. Only imagination sets the limits.
