I am going to build a patio/deck in connection with the house, and now I'm wondering how big the gap should be for it to be classified as its own building construction and not counted as part of the house?

Why do you need to think about it?

R
is related to planning permission

I don't understand your question. Could you be more specific about what you're supposed to do?

Can't you classify it as an attefallshus then.

The balcony/patio will be 36 sqm, so I have looked at different solutions but cannot determine if I can build it without a building permit if it is connected to the house.

I want to build a deck/patio without needing to apply for a building permit, and if there is a gap between the house and the patio, I can avoid the permit, but if it is attached to the house, then I have to apply for a building permit. So my question is, how large does the gap need to be to classify it as a freestanding structure?

What height above the ground will it be?

As Kane asks: How high above the ground?

Because you can lay wooden flooring over the entire plot if you want, as long as it's not too high.

Approximately 0.9-1.1 m, haven't checked too closely yet. But it'll probably be around there.

Then it probably won't make any difference if the house and the patio are connected or not regarding the building permit. Have you checked with your building committee?

if I understood the text correctly, a porch/patio that is attached to the house becomes part of the house and requires a building permit, whereas a patio that is separate from the house is considered a completely separate part and is not counted in the house's square meter area. As I said, as I interpreted the text (but no one has said that I am good at technical Swedish, so)

You still need a building permit or land permit for the deck if it is over 60cm from ground level. No one builds freestanding decks so check with the municipality what applies to you.

so if I understand you correctly, I can build a 1000 sqm outdoor area, but not if it is higher than 60 cm from the ground without a building permit. Is that correct?
