I'm working on building a small porch roof over the entrance and have reached the point of attaching the rafters to the ledger board that will be mounted on the facade. Does it matter if the rafters are attached to the ledger board instead of resting on top? It looks much nicer to do it like in the picture with the red rafters, as the ledger board is not as visible as in the other picture.

In your first picture, only the nail/screw is supporting your rafters.

If you instead recess the "bärlinan" behind the facade panel, you can place the roof beams on top and won't see it at all.

The length of the roof beams is only 130cm, would this be a problem?

Yes, that would have been the best, but a bit too much of an intervention in this context, I think. But thanks for the tip anyway 🙂

Make sure to fully screw in the fitting with an anchor screw, and it should not be a problem.
