Hi!

My first post here.

I need a beam for a bridge. The beam should be positioned as per the picture and thus protrude about 3 meters.
How thick of an HEB-beam do I need?
Can the beam be laid as a lying H instead of a standing H to get less deflection at the outer end?
I want the bridge to be as stiff as possible, of course.

I attach the beam with M20 threaded rod in the foundations.

Grateful for an answer.

Regards, David

Hi, are you going to have one beam or two beams with an intermediate "floor"?

The beams should be rotated as below for minimal deflection/bending.

Thanks for the response. It should be just like you draw in your picture. Two beams with a coarse decking lying perpendicular to the beams.

The bridge should be about 3200 wide.
